Hello from our capital city. Today, I had a chance to visit Ottawa during its post-Canada Day celebrations. The weather was very nice and the general atmosphere was very friendly and calm. Here are the two people who made this visit particularly pleasant for me: my beautiful daughter-in-law Chandra and my son Mark:

Let us begin the tour of the city by visiting something new: Inspiration Village in the historic ByWard Market neighbourhood.

And right here also you can find the bakery that president Barack Obama made very famous during his visit to Ottawa:

Here are Obama cookies, I bought some of them to take for my family in Poland:

Look at these people having their picnic on the bridge, facing the Parliament buildings. My daughter-in-law tried to book a space here on-line several weeks ago and five minutes after they opened the booking, everything was taken. By the way, the grass on the bridge is fake.

We were also very lucky to see the air show:

and the Changing of the Guard:

This very sweet and short trip made me realize how proud I am to be Canadian:

  1. Thank you from Ottawa. Great pics from Canada’s 150th Celebration. Obama cookies looked yummy. Always a pleasure.

  2. Dear Joanna,
What a great view of our capital city. I see you are going to Father Silva’s home country. Did you talk to him about your trip. I love your joy in diversity. I feel exactly the same way. Out world is so exciting with its varied countries and rleigions and customs–the way varied cultures have made meaning out of their reality. I don’t travel anymore and so doing it vacaioursly with you is wonderful

    1. Thank you Pam, I am very glad we share the same view of the world. I think our world is breathtaking but in order to see it, we need to study about it, and travel. Thank you for being with me in all those places. President Trump is also here, in Warsaw now. Few more hours and he is leaving for Germany, I am staying until Sunday and then, off to Sri Lanka.

    1. Thank you Alda/Angie for the comments. I am about to finish my first post from Sri Lanka. What a gorgeous place in the world. It is so exciting to be here!!!!!
