Our day in Rome
Dear friends, today we spent the entire day touring Rome. I am posting some highlights from our first visit to this Eternal City.
First the Basilica of St Paul Outside the Walls:
Very drastic security measures since February. Entering the area of the Basilica requires walking through a metal detector.
St Agnes Church:
Our celebration of Rome’s ancient past with champagne in front of the Colosseum:
Shakespeare and Taren’s dramatic reading made this moment even more interesting.
And of course a picture with our professor:
Basilica of St John in Lateran:
Again, we notice the number of police and military at each important religious site:
In the evening, our professor led us on a walking tour to some interesting parts of the city.
Of course we had to finish our evening in una gelateria:
Cudownie i mam nadzieje ze lody byly smaczne
I LOVED EVERY MINUTE of today! Especially the Basilica of St. Paul… being the only ones in the Basilica in the morning was very special… Thank you Joanna, for capturing the best highlights!
Thank you Marisa for your numerous comments. They will be a nice addition to my comments. You are awesome!!!

Joanna,
Thinking of you today as I was watching the World Youth Day in Krakov, Poland with Papa Francesco. Then I remembered your travel blog. Lovely to see you and Mary Catherine enjoying la Bella Italia! Safe travels.
Chiara
Thank you Chiara, it is nice to hear from you. The World Youth Day in Krakov was amazing, at this point I am very proud of my country. When you look at the posts from Cyprus, Malta and Rome, you may recognize Hiroshi, Nubia, Mary Lou and of course Scott from our trip last year. Nubia wrote another poem. Have a great summer Chiara!
