My dear friends, this post is different. It is a little treat, especially for all those who speak Spanish. We have a very special lady in our group. Her name is Nubia. She is from Colombia. Spanish is her first language and she enjoys writing poems in that language. Nubia felt very moved by our desert experience and she expressed her feelings in a poem. She agreed to share it with all of us. Please press play and listen to the lovely Arabic music while you look at the pictures and read Nubia’s poem. Also, I would like to mention that the last five pictures were taken by our amazing and creative photographer: Sally Rogers. Thank you Sally for sharing your pictures.

En las arenas del Sahara

¡Oh Dios de este desierto

colmado de belleza!

Arena y más arena

formando paisajes, colores increíbles

que nuestros pinceles

no saben copiar.

¡Oh Dios cómo te veo

en medio de la arena!

aquí cuando piso las huellas se borran,

y sólo permanece la imagen, sin imagen

que guarda el corazón.

Allí tú resides sin límites, ni espacios

en este Sahara interior de mi ser.

Sólo veo estrellas en el firmamento,

soledad y silencio…

nada más…  y Tú.

A big thank you to Nubia and Sally. This romantic and poetic way we have finished the Moroccan part of our trip.

  1. Lovely post, Joanna. Visiting the Sahara must be a moving experience. The desert makes you appreciate everything we take for granted that much more (especially water!), doesn’t it?

Please say hello to Simone for me.

    Safe travels!

    1. Thank you Annie for your sweet comment and I will say hello to Simone. It is fun to travel with her.
