Toronto: Ethiopian Orthodox Church
Hello from Toronto! This time we are visiting a very interesting church: St.Mary Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, located near Dufferin, south of Lawrence.
The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church in Toronto was established in 1972. The church building you see on these pictures was consecrated in 2012.
Like all orthodox churches, the sanctuary, facing the east, is separated from the rest of the building. As you can see, women sit on the right side of the church, men are on the left side. All women have their heads covered. Before you enter the church, you are asked to remove your shoes.
The Divine Liturgy begins at 8:30 am and lasts until 11:30.
Notice the heavenly atmosphere created by the light, art decorations and incense.
Children, youth and adult choirs performed right after the Divine liturgy:
Thank you so much for sharing. Appreciating the window into yet another beautiful Christian community!
Thank you Shelley, so good to hear from you. It is a gorgeous church and very nice people.
Thank you for the excellent pictures. The stain glass murals are so beautiful. The depicted images brought many gospel scriptures to life in my opinion. It is so great to see people worshiping God in diverse ways right here in Toronto. New information = New knowledge. Thank you for the opportunity because this helps me and others accept one another, embrace our multicultural humanity and make communities an exciting place to live. Always a pleasure. Thanks again.
Thank you Pulcheria for your kind comment. I am glad you enjoy our multicultural reality here in Toronto. I think it is our treasure and we should cherish it on daily basis.
